Postcard30 _front.jpg and postcard30 _back.jpgįor DOS processing, it is important that the differentiating suffix be at the end of the name so that a wildcard (*) can be used at the front, like:įor more vesatility of processing, it would be better if the suffix were the same length for both sides of the postcard, like: For instance, if you wanted to combine fronts and backs of one postcard, the filenames should be the same for both images, with a suffix denoting the front and the back versions that would be consistent for every image, like: To successfully use a batch file, your image names should have some amount of regularity. See the DOS command-prompt panorama examples found on these two pages: That means a DOS batch could be created for the automation if you have the talent and inclination. However, IrfanView does support a tremendous amount of command line input, and I did see that the Panorama feature is supported at the command line. IrfanView is fairly fast - select photos from the file dialog and then click "create image" - but I didn't see any obvious onscreen automation for that feature. It has a "panorama" feature that allows you combine any number of photos vertically or horizontally, and you would want vertical composites for postcards.

IrfanView is a free desktop Windows program that most of us on this forum have used. This online tool can stitch two to nine photos into one composite. I've searched online, but so far everything is either too vague, to make panoramic photos which I don't want or risky downloads with all sorts of bloatware attached. PhotoStudio (came with the Epson scanner) is slow since you have to scroll for pictures in the little unsizable menu to select them and then choose a couple of other pull down menus to stitch and then save the completed image. Even a program where I can select two pictures and then click something else to produce one image would be nice. Is there a program out there that can do this process quicker either through some sort of batch processing or other automation.

I know how to create a single image from two images in MSPaint and PhotoStudio, but it is a slow process to do that for the volume of images I'm dealing with. I've made all the scans for the front and backs of the postcards.

I would like to list a couple of thousand plus postcards that are postally used with a gallery image that shows the front an back of the postcards in one image.
